When we say “air conditioner” we generally think of appliances that cool the room. Properly speaking, the things we call air conditioners are really air coolers which cannot do much for conditioning the temperature in a freezing room. In fact, most of us would think it strange to put on an air conditioner in the middle of winter. Up until Carrier air conditioning units featured some products capable of both cooling and heating the room, such was indeed the case.
