Chimney Liner – Should You Go For a DIY Or a Professional Service?
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 211 has mandated the replacement of chimney liners if they are cracked, broken or missing. Regular inspections and checks can uncover any damages to the chimneys. Chimneys should be inspected annually if the fireplace is used and wood, coal, gas or oil stoves are used for heating. Inspection is also necessary in case of a chimney fire. Cracked flues should not be taken lightly as a creosote fire can make its way through cracks. Continue reading
