Cracked Heat Exchanger
A gas furnace uses a heat exchanger to indirectly heat air as it passes over it. This air is circulated via a furnace supply fan. As natural (or propane) gas is burned inside the furnace, the flames and combustion gases flow through the inside of the heat exchanger, passing back and forth, eventually being vented outside through a flue vent.
